There has finally been a release date for the new Honda Civic Type R hot hatch. The model will be the most powerful one ever.
The new Type R will enter its sixth generation alongside the 11th-generation Honda Civic with redesigned bodywork, significant mechanical improvements, and enhanced aerodynamics.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged 17YM engine from the previous Type R will be used to power the new Type R, mated to an improved six-speed manual transmission
Honda's 'mainstream' models have already gone hybrid-only in Europe, and this is likely to be the last pure-combustion car the brand ever launches here.
the uprated engine, which gains a revised turbocharger and compact housing, is the strongest VTEC turbo yet and that it helps to “deliver the fastest, most addictive yet secure and rewarding drive
Compared to the previous model, the new Type R will have a higher power-to-weight ratio, more torque, and a faster top speed, thanks to its use of a powerful engine per liter.
Inside, the Type R equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a digital cockpit made just for it, red Type R trim, sports seats made for both the road and the track, and suede-like upholstery.
This new model is far more understated than the old type. A large rear wing makes a return, though, and it rides on purposeful, lightweight 19in alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
Other design features include a larger lower grille, added front bumper air vents and a revised bonnet to improve airflow to the engine.
